VAST.For years we have been denouncing the fact that in the municipal villa of Vasto many owners leave their dogs loose. It has become almost impossible to come and bring your dog in the morning with peace of mind. This behavior is very annoying to all those people who have civilly adopted their pets from the shelter and instead respect all the rules by wearing them on a leash and bringing the bags and everything necessary with them. What I want to point out is that it is always the same people who keep the dogs free.”

To declare it is Marco Cannarsaregional president of the Environmental Guards, who also recounts some episodes of which he was the direct protagonist.

“90 percent of owners behave civilly and want to live the relationship with their pet in a peaceful manner. I, together with my dog, have been attacked by these loose animals more than once. I have made this known to the police, but I received no assistance in the course of a single morning, it happened to me twice, but even though I waited for almost two hours for the officers to arrive, no one arrived and I was always told that the patrol she was busy on duty and would join me later. In any case, these are events that also happen to many citizens who always encounter these people either at the villa or in Piazza Rossetti who leave their dogs free.”

National legislation and the “zero tolerance” union ordinance have evidently not resolved the issue (Laws): “We need to intervene and adopt more stringent measures towards those who are more repeat offenders, warnings are not enough but effective and targeted sanctions. Someone who does something stupid once cannot be compared to someone who constantly violates the rules and respect towards those who want to feel calm in walk without experiencing dramatic moments. Dogs must be kept on a leash and the leash must not be longer than one and a half meters. There are clear written rules because no matter how tame a dog may be, it can feel antipathy towards its peers just as it happens among us humans. In Vasto the number of families adopting dogs has increased and we would like more dog walking areas, even one right here at the villa”.
