Health poverty in Italy

“Health poverty in Italy” conference organized by the Italian Episcopal Conference: the CNOP poverty largely depends on unsatisfied psychological needs.

In Verona, the CNOP, together with the Italian Federations of health professionals, represented and proposed strategies to reduce inequalities in access to care.
The theme of mental health, transversal and present in all the reports presented, represents a central objective to aim for.
Faced with the exponential increase in critical issues relating to psychological health, at all ages, and in constantly growing requests, as clearly emerged from access to the psychologist bonus, it is essential to think of a structural response, a public psychological network that allows us to intercept needs promptly and prevent the onset of more serious psychopathologies. In fact, a large gap still emerges between manifest psychological needs and the public response.
In the absence of this public network, the use of private psychologists and psychotherapists is limited only to those who can afford it financially, fueling social injustice and effectively limiting the right to health.

The CNOP, through the voice of the national councilor Francesca Schir, also noted the delay in the establishment, also requested by several fronts, of the school psychologist and the basic psychologist.

The federations jointly signed a manifesto with the common objective of removing inequalities in access to health services to protect universal health.
