Disaster of a crisis announced!!
Yesterday 7 May there was the meeting of the Board of Directors of the Centrale del Latte Alessandria-Asti which took place after the meeting of the members of the Alessandrina company.
In recent weeks the Board of Directors has met several times to consider and decide on proposals that never arrived or that called jobs into question.
The company, in addition to having been in a serious economic crisis for some time, is also losing important market shares. Wrong industrial choices, wrong investments, brought Centrale del Latte to the state the company is in today. The jobs of 48 families are at risk. This morning there was a meeting between the RSU, the Flai secretariat and the Board of Directors in which we were informed of the closure, by the consultant, of the negotiated settlement of the crisis with a negative outcome and a relative decision in the next few days to put the company into liquidation.
Employees today pay the highest price for a path that ends in the most serious situation through no fault of their own. The Centrale del Latte di Alessandria and Asti brand risks disappearing both from the shelves of large-scale retail trade but also from the counters of dairies and bars located throughout the province of Alessandria, Savona, Viareggio as well as in various sales points in north-western Italy.
We ask for an act of responsibility from the members so as not to let one of the few agri-food companies present in our territory since 1931 die and with it, the workplace including the related industries that today live on “this milk”.
Tomorrow 9 May we will be present in front of the company both in via Massobrio and in via Pisacane while on Friday with a delegation of workers we will go to Parma where the Cibus Italian agri-food fair will close.
Today we decided that we will not stop production because as long as we are given the possibility of producing fresh milk and cream, we will do so with a sense of responsibility.
We don’t want to cry over “spilled milk”.
