The many critical issues of the Tutto Train Charter

CIVITAVECCHIA – «I can tell you that we are in May and the way to subscribe to the “new” Tutto Treno is still unclear (Trenitalia ticket offices don’t know anything according to what was communicated a few days ago at the station)». This is said by a reader who denounces: «They have left us with a match in our hands and there are no common sense solutions on the horizon, nor do I see anyone making themselves heard in a decisive way». The citizen does not agree with the latest communications from the Region.

«Meanwhile – he explains – it is not true that the ICNs were excluded (they were included in the convention even before). Furthermore, the message is passed that principles of fairness are being introduced (but this was actually pointed out by the fl5 committees) when in reality the price has also been increased by 200 euros for those with medium ISEE, by 100 euros for low ISEEs, and it has been made totally unattractive for those with medium-high incomes: 550 euros is almost as much as the 5-zone metrebus (590.80 ordinary). Not only that: despite having increased up to a maximum of 400 euros, they left the benefits unchanged for everyone. I have serious doubts that this measure will last for a long time (provided that the interest is to make it last, I am convinced that removing it will change little). Those who don’t have the financial means won’t do it anymore, and those who can, won’t spend 550 euros: perhaps they will prefer the car. Also try to think of a couple of commuter workers with a medium-high income (there certainly are some): should they pay 1,100 euros a year in supplement? You too understand that such a choice is absolutely out of logic, you might as well give up the card and say it clearly (but perhaps you will lose even more consensus in making this choice)”.

According to the citizen, the use of the Civitavecchia express is also terrible. «I note with regret that there is always economic availability for the Civitavecchia express (leaving it inaccessible to local travelers even though it circulates empty, it would be interesting if they published how many actual sales there are). Maybe it could have been a way to broaden the audience by reducing the burden on everyone. And we should all know that the bulk of the tourists who crowd the trains in Civitavecchia are people who have to return to Fiumicino, and the Civitavecchia express is not needed in that case.”

It would be useful «a direct means of transport to Fiumicino, if there is no bus that intercepts the users they will inevitably fall on the trains. On the contrary, those who don’t know the topic are made to believe that those who should take the Civitavecchia Express are tourists with suitcases (who certainly don’t go to Rome for a day trip with their luggage). Anyone who stops in Civitavecchia for 1 day on the cruise doesn’t have a suitcase, they leave it on board.”

«Finally – he concludes – I would like to point out that the 1500 users estimated by the region that owns Tutto Treno are much fewer than the real ones. Missing from the audience are the numerous “invisibles”, i.e. the State Railways staff who get on board and do not have the Tutto Treno Card. Furthermore, it would be interesting to understand, for these hundreds of workers, what title they get on with and how they manage to reserve their place given that the free movement card (CLC) is only for regional workers, but it is not up to me to control it”.
