The provincial CSA expresses “deep concern and disdain for the continuous violations of the rights and working conditions of the employees of the Municipality of Salerno. Following yet another disappointment caused by the municipal administration of Salerno, the provincial CSA, together with the other trade union organisations, have officially proclaimed the state of agitation of the municipal staff – we read in the note from the workers’ representatives – This decision was decided after a careful evaluation of the many critical issues reported, ranging from non-compliance with current contracts to the persistence of serious gaps in protection of safety and human resources management”.

The comment of the provincial secretary Angelo Rispoli was harsh: “The dignity of the workers of the Municipality of Salerno has been systematically trampled upon. The numerous reports of non-compliance with contracts, failures to comply with workplace safety and the absence of concrete responses to union requests are unacceptable”.

The provincial CSA reported a series of unresolved problems, including the failure to initiate insolvency proceedings, the failure to pay contractual indemnities and the criticality of safety in the workplace, also highlighting the failure to deliver uniforms and self-defense tools for workers municipal police workers. In response to this state of unrest, the employees of the Municipality of Salerno expressed their full support for the actions undertaken by the trade union organisations, including the provincial CSA, giving them the mandate to proceed with all the mobilizations permitted by law, including the calling of a general strike.

“The situation requires urgent and decisive intervention,” says Rispoli. “For this reason, we urge the municipal administration to take the legitimate demands of the workers seriously and to sit at the negotiating table to find shared solutions that respect the rights of employees”, concluded Rispoli.
While waiting for a constructive dialogue, the abstention of municipal employees from any extraordinary activity has been communicated, until a table is convened at the Prefecture of Salerno, as required by current legislation.
