Use an area adjacent to your company as green land, in which plants and various types of animals can proliferate, promote sustainability in a concrete way and start the formation of a network between local entities that share the same objective, creating interesting synergies. This is the mission that PubbliR – a leading company in marketing, communication and internationally renowned advertising agency based in Velletri – has begun to pursue and which finds a very important first step in the inauguration of the “Green Area” which took place on Saturday 4 May.
In the presence of authorities and associations, with the greetings of the Mayor Ascanio Cascella, the vice-Mayor Chiara Ercoli and various representatives of the municipal administration, the ribbon of this large green area (over 4500 square metres) which hosts 400 plants was cut honey trees, 24 families of bees, olive trees, cherry trees, a mimosa grove and much more. Furthermore, thanks to the collaboration of the Salustri Agricoltura company, an exhaustive explanation was provided on beekeeping practices with almost 2 million bees that will inhabit the Green Area in the coming months. At the same time, Roberto Di Calisto of Dicalistomania created an ice cream on site using honey and offering those present an unprecedented delicacy. Various wineries in the area have also made their contribution, while meetings with schools to plant trees are already scheduled. The Green Area is equipped with an ecological island, photovoltaic system, composting area, groundwater well, apiary, panoramic point, weather station and renewable energy column. The intuition of PubbliR, and of CEO Riccardo Colella, was supported by many important Veliterne companies: Green Building, Webile.it, Apicoltura Salustri, VEMI by Fratelli Canini, Trulli Legnami by Roberto Trulli, Gelatomania and Dicalistomania. A reunion of companies that share and feel part of an ambitious and unique project.
We listened to Riccardo Colella himself to better understand the spirit of this initiative, the future projects and the synergies that can develop around such an ambitious work: “Green Area PubbliR was born from the desire to make the commitment to environmental sustainability tangible. In February we specifically purchased land for planting Norway maple, the plant that offsets the most carbon dioxide during its lifetime. Starting the landscaping work, we realized that it could become more than a simple maple forest, and we brought new life to all the plants already present, as well as an ancient phreatic well, typical of the Veliterne vineyards in the past. We then asked ourselves: what else can we do for sustainability? Through the collaboration with Apicoltura Salustri we have found accommodation for 24 bee families, planted 400 honey plants to support them, and created a meeting area where we can also host school children and let them live experiences in nature. In the future the goal is to create Montessori sensory paths, on May 20th we will have the first event with a school from Velletri and the Lions for ‘World Bee Day’ and there will be a small demonstration in which the beekeeper will explain how it works the hive, and two curly maples will be planted. We are open to any collaboration with any activity in the area and indeed we would be happy if other companies or entities in the area asked us to duplicate a similar area at their facilities or on land identified by them. We make ourselves available to help, support and advise anyone who wants to replicate this project.”
A laudable initiative that has extreme potential, not only for the atavistic and fundamentally indispensable human desire to return to the ancient by placing itself in the serenity of nature but also and above all for the practical spirit of a project that combines beauty and environmental sustainability by offering a contribution fundamental to improving the quality of life and the environment in which we live every day. Something pioneering and at the same time against the grain, in short, what PubbliR has achieved and the greatest hope is truly to soon see other Green Areas, public or private, to give new oxygen to Velletri and its realities starting from the companies…
