‘At school with chess’. This is an initiative organized by the Unicef ​​Committee for Ferrara, Estense Chess Club, with the patronage of the Municipality of Ferrara. An appointment that will be held on Saturday 11 May from 9.30 to 18.30, in the garden of Palazzo Paradiso (or in case of bad weather in the spaces of the Casa Niccolini library, via Romiti 13). The meeting was attended by the municipal sports councilor Andrea Maggi, president and voluntary member of the Unicef ​​Committee for Ferrara, Anna Maria Faccini and Angela Campanari, the representative of the Estense Chess Club Anna Dentale. The project was born from a national convention between Unicef ​​and the Chess Federation, to promote the game of chess and highlight the educational value of the game for young people. Play is one of the rights provided for by the Convention on the Rights of Children and Adolescents and Unicef ​​has always worked to spread a culture of childhood and adolescence. “This is an important initiative – explained councilor Andrea Maggi – which brings together awareness on issues relating to rights and lessons for knowing and learning the game of chess”.

A project, which was aimed at the schools of Ferrara, primary school pupils, 1st grade middle school and 2nd grade middle school, with meetings and reflections on the rights and situation of children in the world. The conclusion will be a chess tournament aimed at pupils on Saturday 11 May starting at 10am. “We are very satisfied – added Unicef ​​Ferrara president Anna Maria Faccini – to be able to present the second edition of the Unicef ​​chess tournament. Many schools have joined the project with pleasure and enthusiasm, which took place during the entire school year. The Ferrara committee for Unicef ​​thanks the councilor and the Municipality of Ferrara for their patronage and collaboration”. A tournament that involves the participation of around one hundred students from Ferrara schools. “The tournament is dedicated – concluded Anna Maria Faccini – to the rights of children and young people, however we cannot forget the children of Gaza and all the children who suffer and are in difficult living conditions”.
