L’AQUILA – A dramatic situation but from which we can emerge with a step forward, aiming for the replacement of the entire system and not just the cables. The Democratic Party, in a press conference held yesterday morning, launched the proposal to the operators and the Biondi administration: the idea is to take advantage of the probably very long closure of the cable car to build new access systems in its place. An cable car, specifies the regional councilor Pierpaolo Pietrucci, which could bring many more users to the altitude than a cable car which, in any case, would have to be stopped and changed again within a few years. The funds would be there, the secretary explained at the beginning Nello Avellanibetween Pnrr and the second “batch” of 4% funds for reconstruction still to be planned.

“We voted responsibly – said Avellani – for the mayor’s amendment for the replacement of the ropes, this does not mean not recognizing the total failure of the administration. The case of the cable car closed since May 1st is emblematic and there will be serious repercussions both on the sector and on the CTGS”.

“We ask for two things, first of all transparency on what we want to do for the CTGS and the workers. Second, since the cable car is closed and that we are allocating funds and that there are others, this could be a historic step to think about another intervention, not the simple replacement of the cables, but the complete replacement of the system” .

Meanwhile, the clouds over the future of the CTGS are gathering. Stefano Palumbomunicipal councilor of the Democratic Party, recalled that the company, owned by the municipality, has already had two net loss budgets, with the third risking bankruptcy unless, “but they will have to show us how and with which industrial plan”, not yet another financial aid is activated for the company.

Stefania Pezzopaneand later also Pietrucci, recalled in this sense the efforts made in the past, when the CTGS was submerged in debt: “Nothing has been done in seven years, and now there is a risk of falling back into that situation again”.
