mapping after the elections, forgotten by the government

The seaside resorts have been abandoned by the government and the void relating to the renewal of concessions leaves the ball in the hands of local authorities, forced to launch public tenders in different ways from one municipality to another. Result? The old dealers will not be able to defend themselves. is the cry of alarm launched by Mauro Vanni, national president of the Confartigianato association for state-owned enterprises, in light of the fact that the government, on the mapping of the beach, has called a summit of the technical table for 12 June, after the European elections and opened only to local authorities.

“Leave yourself alone”

«Beyond the table that meets without the unions after the elections and this is a choice that already has its own meaning – thunders Vanni – the very serious fact is that seaside tourism is being left in a dramatic situation. We are faced with a huge regulatory gap and the problem is in the hands of local administrations, burdened with responsibilities that are not theirs’, but they must intervene in the wake of those reported to the Prosecutor’s Office.

What could happen then? «This void will create enormous chaos, each local administration will find a different solution, a beastly confusion. Public evidence will be activated without any defense of the sector, the old dealers will not have the opportunity to defend themselves. The category has been abandoned. it’s time for beach resorts to make their voices heard in a united way during the elections.”

“Let’s make ourselves heard”

The technical consultative table on mapping was therefore convened on 12 June. «This is a further signal from the government that it wants to intervene after the European elections» declares Antonio Capacchione, president of the Italian seaside union belonging to Fipe Confcommercio. «In this way, the electoral needs were put before those of the category – continues Capacchione – to have, in other words, a mandatory and unpostponable clarifying legislative measure that safeguards equipped bathing facilities». The call, however, concerns only public administrations. «The previous meeting, on April 10, was called only a few hours earlier to confirm that it was not only purely instrumental, but against our demonstration the following day – specifies the president of the union -. The political responsibilities for the possible consequences on the functionality of the sector once the bathing season has already begun are therefore serious and evident to all. The appropriate trade union initiatives will soon be made known, to protect and safeguard over 30 thousand companies and 100 thousand employees”.
