More blood on the streets of Abruzzo. This morning, Monday 6 May, a woman was run over and killed in the center. Investigators have opened an investigation.
The toll of road accidents in Abruzzo is worsening. This time, however, it wasn’t a driver who lost his life, but an 82-year-old lady who was hit and killed in Ortona. The woman was crossing when, for reasons yet to be ascertained, a tractor hit her and there was nothing she could do.
The medical staff, who arrived on site almost immediately, could not help but confirm the death. The woman, in fact, was immediately in serious condition and resuscitation attempts did not produce the desired effects. The Prosecutor’s Office immediately opened an investigation to better ascertain what happened and understand the dynamics of a tragedy that shocked the city of Ortona.
78 year old died in Pescara hospital
The accident in Ortona is not the only one recorded in the last few hours in Abruzzo. A 78-year-old woman lost her life after being hit and run over under the Vasto Town Hall bridge. Immediately after the tragedy, the elderly woman was urgently transferred to the Pescara hospital to carry out all the necessary treatments.
The clinical picture, due to a cerebral hemorrhage and trauma, immediately seemed very critical and death was announced shortly after arrival. Also in this case an investigation was opened to better ascertain the dynamics of the incident and identify the responsibilities of yet another accident on the roads of Abruzzo.
The budget is getting worse
The toll of road accidents in Abruzzo it gets worse day after day. The latest two dead women confirm the trend recorded in recent days and the situation does not seem likely to change. If there is no turning point in the next few weeks, the end-of-year figure could be much higher compared to other years.
For this reason, an intervention by President Marsilio with tougher rules cannot be ruled out to try to put an end to these tragedies which are now daily.
