Serial thefts in Giugliano, meeting of the Provincial Committee for public order and safety

This morning, at the Government Palacechaired by Prefect of Naples, Michele from Bari a meeting of the Provincial Committee for Public Order and Security was held, attended by Mayor of the Municipality of Giugliano in Campani, the Councilor for Legality of the Municipality of Naples, the Police Commissioner, the Provincial Commander of the Guardia di Finanza, the representative of the Provincial Command of the Carabinieri and the Commander of the Metropolitan Police.

Various issues were addressed, including that relating to the increase in residential burglaries which is being recorded in Municipality of Giugliano in Campania.

In this regard, an increase in controls has been ordered by the police forces who already pay particular attention to the phenomenon, also making use of the technological support constituted by the local video surveillance network, connected to the headquarters of the Municipal Police Command, which has a network of approximately 300 viewing points.

In this regard, extraordinary control services will be implemented in the territory, especially in the coastal area as well as High Impact services, with the support of the local police.

Soon, a further provincial committee for public order and safety will be held to verify the results of the additional commitment put in place, with

the presence also of the Giugliano civic committees which reported the repeated thefts in the areas of the municipality where they reside.

In addition to the above, the Municipality of Giugliano, thanks to the financing of which it is the beneficiary, equal to €350,000.00, arranged by the POC Legality of the Ministry of the Interior will be able to proceed with the installation of approximately 26 filming sites in the area. The areas affected also include Licola, Varcaturo, the area bordering the Municipality of Melito, the Campania Nord Est Metro station, the stadium and the Giugliano-Qualiano railway station which were found to be the areas most “at risk” and the new plant will provide useful support to law enforcement investigative activities.

Furthermore, the project presented by the Municipality of Giugliano was examined under the Fund for the strengthening of urban security initiatives, referring to the three-year period 2024-2026, based on the decree of the Minister of the Interior adopted in agreement with the Minister of the economy and finances, the aforementioned project – aimed at increasing the local police force with 7 personnel units, of which 6 full-time and 1 part-time, for a financial commitment of €112,040.00 per year – is been approved by the Committee and will therefore be forwarded to the Ministry of the Interior for admission to financing
