Continental official tire at the 107th Giro d'Italia

TURIN (ITALPRESS) – Continental is the Top sponsor and official tire of the Giro d’Italia 2024, the historic stage cycling race, this year in its 107th edition, which started on Saturday 4 May in Piedmont with the inaugural Venaria stage Reale-Turin.
“We are leaving for this adventure with great enthusiasm – explains Giorgio Cattaneo, PR Communication & Event Manager of Continental Italia -. It’s a great opportunity to meet the many people who share the enthusiasm for this sport. We are proud to be able to participate as protagonists in the Giro, an Italian excellence that fuels passions and creates value, generating important economic benefits and enhancing the beauty of our country. For us it means communicating the essence of the Continental brand: we will work hard to raise awareness on the issues of safety on the roads and on the vision of a mobility which, thanks to technological research, is able to respond to today’s growing needs and which is increasingly linked to sustainability issues”.
Continental is also present at the Giro-E, the e-bike experience that travels the streets of the Giro d’Italia, as a jersey sponsor and participates in the event with a team. “With Continental – explains Matteo Mursia, Chief Revenue Officer of RCS Sport – we find a partner of international level on the Giro d’Italia and with whom we share common objectives. The organization of events such as the Corsa Rosa and the Giro-E cannot ignore fundamental issues such as safety, sustainability, innovation and performance. All these elements fit perfectly with Continental’s declared objectives. The Giro d’Italia is a three-week long journey across our beautiful territory and we are certain that we have no better partner than Continental to undertake it.”
“The Giro-E – adds Giorgio Cattaneo – is perfect for raising awareness on sustainability issues. It is also a very engaging event and an opportunity to involve many people, who will live a unique experience, pedaling on the roads of the Giro a few hours before the passage of the professionals. A perfect mix of passion, fun, inclusiveness and awareness on issues that concern the future of all of us.” The Giro-E takes place with pedal-assisted racing bicycles (e-road bikes), approved and with 250W motors for a maximum speed limited to 25 km/h. “Continental – continues Cattaneo – has the ambition of becoming the most cutting-edge tire manufacturer in terms of environmental and social responsibility. The strategy is clear and concerns 4 fundamental areas: the research of raw materials, the production phase, the characteristics of the products and their use, the treatment of products at the end of their life cycle. Precise and defined goals are set for each phase. Sustainability is the fundamental principle of the future growth strategy and is an indispensable element for a premium brand.” A concrete example of this commitment is represented by the UltraContact NXT, present at the Green Fun Village, the sustainable series tire with a share of up to 65% renewable and recycled materials.
Continental’s commitment to cycling races, therefore, continues after its participation as Official Supplier of the great Italian Classics such as Strade Bianche, Tirreno-Adriatico, Milan-Turin, Milan-Sanremo to which will be added, on 10 and 12 October, the Great Piedmont and Lombardy. In July, however, Continental will also be present at the Tour de France.
And as happened for the Classics, the partnership between Continental and Toyota will also be renewed at the Giro d’Italia 2024: the car manufacturer will, in fact, field over 60 cars, to support the athletes and organizers along the entire route, which will be equipped with the new Continental AllSeasonContact 2 tyre, a latest generation product perfect for electric vehicles, as certified by the EV marking on the sidewall, and at the top of the market for mileage, low rolling resistance and safety in all weather conditions.
