“The Tari increases for the citizens of Arezzo by 5% but the waste collection and disposal services do not improve. Why is this short circuit recorded annually? Traditional street collection does not allow waste to become a potential resource, which would instead happen with adequate valorisation of door-to-door separate waste collection. That the current administration has little faith in this method is demonstrated by the fact that where it has been introduced the service remains insufficient.”

“Furthermore, as is known, Arezzo is home to a plant: this is now being discussed in terms of expansion, both for waste-to-energy and for composting. As a result, more and more undifferentiated and organic waste is attracted well beyond the borders provincial. The citizens of San Zeno, Poggiola and Chiani know something about it.
Regarding these hamlets, an epidemiological and scientific investigation conducted a few years ago had highlighted the presence of critical environmental and health issues and invited the administrations to contain the impacts. Now, however, the opposite is foreseen. And the consequences are not only linked to bad smells but to the increase in noise, traffic and consequently carbon dioxide pollution.
The Municipality of Arezzo would have a resource, as the site of the plant, i.e. the environmental inconvenience compensation equal to approximately 750,000 euros. Why not allocate it to environmental mitigation and improvement interventions in the areas affected by the presence of the waste-to-energy plant?
In short, despite the intentions flaunted and beyond the Tari, which in any case weighs more heavily on the pockets of the Arezzo people thanks also to the votes of a centre-right ATO led by Ghinelli, it is the environmental policies of this administration as a whole that demonstrate their inadequacy and confirm that in recent years only propaganda has been made by the junta”.”
