With the arrival of the summer, the central territorial department of the municipal police of Prato resumes its control service of the streets of the historic center and the cycle paths with patrols on bikes and scooters. The service responds first of all to the need to arrive at interventions earlier than the foot service, and to control and monitor the cycle paths around the historic centre.
The bicycle makes the officers more visible, therefore also functioning as a deterrent. The service, already developed in recent years, was particularly appreciated by users of the cycle paths.
The Piazza Macelli Command was one of the first in Italy to establish scooter patrols, also to combat the incorrect use of this vehicle.
The bike and scooter patrols also carried out and guaranteed escort at all events in Bicinprato in every period.
The officers engaged in this type of activity are however also supported by a car patrol ready to intervene in case of need.
