Following the declarations of the reclamation commissioner in recent months Emilio Errigo, “we have numerous doubts about the methods of remediation of industrial waste in Crotone. Emilio Errigo must say once and for all whether he intends to dispose of the waste at the Columbra landfill, therefore in Crotone, or outside the region as required by the Paur legislation. Consequentially, if Errigo intends to dispose of waste in the city, he must resign and leave room for those who intend to start a real clean-up”.

After the meeting held in Rome in the Services Conference at the request of Eni, during which Eni expressed its intention to adopt a new reclamation plan based on the changes and resolutions of the Calabria Region regarding the waste plan, it is important to know what this new waste plan provides.”
“The regional location criteria for waste recovery and disposal plants – the group leader continues – define the parameters to define the areas suitable and unsuitable for the location of waste disposal and recovery plants, and to identify the places or plants suitable for disposal”
According to Pingitore it is therefore necessary “take seriously into consideration the constraints and limitations of a physical, technical, environmental, social, economic and political nature that contribute to ensuring a sustainable environmental impact, mitigation and compensation measures, the protection of valuable areas and critical issues of the territory, as well as acceptance by citizens. According to the changes initiated by the current regional council, the new plan no longer provides for the distinction between the types of plants and the territory, especially ours devastated and tormented by the environmental issue; the current localization criteria would apply to all types of plants, regardless of the waste category”.
“That is – goes on – it means that Crotone could become an area without restrictions for waste disposal, creating an unregulated and wild “energy district”, as I have denounced several times. It is not the first time that Eni has proposed creating a landfill for the disposal of waste, including dangerous waste, in Crotone. Furthermore, during the next Services Conferences, Eni intends to make use of the new changes adopted by the Calabria Region to be able to start the reclamation works using the current landfills on site, without moving anything outside. In short, the six-legged dog wants to carry out a fake reclamation.”
Pinger, finally invites the mayor, the president of the Provincial Council, of which he is also a member; the regional councilors, in particular Antonello Talerico, “so that they urge the President of the Calabria Region to speed up the process to implement the localization pressure factor, above all for compliance with the law, to protect and safeguard the compromised health of citizens and of the now highly devastated territory. In the worst case scenario, with the continuation of this inertia regarding the start of the reclamation operations does not exclude a complaint for “failed reclamation” promoted by the Municipality of Crotone, as any delay seriously risks the poisoning of the aquifer”.
