BRINDISI – Now the lights can be turned off and the curtain can be lowered on the sporting season of the capital of Brindisi which has remedied two heavy relegations; one in football, where the team that returned to the third series after 33 years slipped down, in the apathy of a horrible season culminating in the return to D, and the other in basketball where Brindisi has been the protagonist of the top flight for 12 years.
In fact, yesterday New Basket Brindisi, already relegated to Serie A 2, ended the championship with a defeat, losing in Brescia 94-75 with scores of 22-20; 25-19; 22-21; 25-15.
Now it’s time for reflection but if in basketball the picture appears clear, because president Marino’s club is solid and has ideas as clear as spring water, in football it’s all a puzzle.
New Basket can only pick up the pieces and project itself towards the construction of the next sporting project to be developed in the next season in which it will find itself in the A2 series tournament which will change the formula and become a single group of 20 teams, where it should find Nardò basketball which in this period, staying in the survival group will be played out, but will also find clubs that are sacred monsters of the national basketball scene such as Udine, Trieste, Fortitudo Bologna and Cantù, it will be a highly fascinating tournament like the A1 where Brindisi will try to return.
For Brindisi football, however, at the moment, there are many shadows with the only certainty that if we managed to start again from D, with a new club, we would now start with 6 points less and new penalties could still arrive.
There is silence and we are waiting to understand if one of the three negotiations, which appear to be taking place, can materialize.
There is the trail that leads to the capital, with a consortium of entrepreneurs from the capital, then there is the other that leads to the German entrepreneur Peter Dohlich and finally the one that leads to Rinaldo Zerbo, former manager of Alessandria, who would have presented a purchase proposal to the Arigliano family.
Now with bowls stopped, in both championships, we can think about the future.
