Tomorrow Tuesday 7 May we celebrate the 200th anniversary of Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony.

The Municipal Administration wants to pay homage to the Genius of Music by publishing the performance of the Symphony n. by the instrumental Camerata and the Coro del Maggio led by director Jonathan Webb. 9 in D minor op. 125, recorded on 8 May 2015 at the Teatro Politeama Pratese.

The Ninth Symphony is a score of approximately 70 minutes of music, which Ludwig van Beethoven wrote between 1822 and 1824. It represents one of the supreme masterpieces produced by human civilization. Its first performance took place on 7 May 1824 at the Theater am Kärntnertor in Vienna when deafness had already struck the musician. It is the symbol that expresses the ideal of universal brotherhood. For this reason, the melody that sings the verses of Friedrich Schiller’s “Ode to Joy” in the Symphony’s finale was adopted as its own anthem by the European Union.
