About 4 hours is the time it took for a group of criminals to carry out two thefts during the night and attempt three more in the eastern area of Salerno. Five episodes in total, on which the Salerno Flying Squad is now working, which concerned commercial activities and not only in the city. From the industrial area to the Arbostella Park and the Mercatello district, these are the areas in which the four criminals moved, filmed in each episode by the video surveillance cameras inside and outside the businesses, all with their faces covered and wearing gloves.
The first attempt was made in the industrial area against the “Ok the price is right” supermarket in Via Wenner: the alarm went off between half past midnight and one last night with the criminals managing to tamper with the gate electrician, to damage the shutter until they entered the supermarket and reached the tills which however were empty. Once the alarm was triggered they then fled to continue their search for cash. An attempt was also made at the Galleria Mediterranea in Salerno, the group was unable to go beyond the entrance gate and so ran away.
Mediaworld in Porta di Mare in via Generale Clark in Salerno was also targeted, here the entrance door was damaged with the criminals who also in this case did not take anything away.
However, two were scored. The first to the detriment of Banca Sella in Piazza Antonella Russo near the Arbostella Park roundabout: to smash the window, the criminals used the covering grate of a manhole, so they entered the branch and took away a roller cash, the small safe available to cashiers.
Around 300 euros in cash and 3000 euros in scratch cards is the loot from the theft at the Tabacchi in via Leucosia, probably the last one carried out by the group of thieves who managed to raise the shutter and enter the commercial activity on the seafront in the Mercatello district. Salerno State Police patrols intervened during the night. Now the agents of the Mobile team directed by Gianni di Palma are working to view the images of the video surveillance cameras recovered in the morning and thus try to trace the perpetrators of the thefts and attempted thefts.
