Good healthcare in Castellammare di Stabia, grandfather Salvatore underwent femur surgery at the age of 101

Last Monday 29 April 2024 at the operating block of the San Leonardo hospital in Castellammare di Stabia (Naples) a biarticular hip prosthesis was implanted in a 101-year-old patient resident in Torre Annunziata,

The operation, exceptional for the age of the patient, following a subcapita fracture of the neck of the femur, was performed by the head doctor of the orthopedics department of the Stabia hospital, Roberto Cirillo, assisted by Dr. Lorenzo Panico.

The patient underwent local regional anesthesia performed by specialists Mario Salvatelli and Vincenzo Tarasco.

The 101-year-old immediately started physiotherapy at the same orthopedics department and after a few days he can already stand and is in good condition.

The important result was obtained thanks to the team work carried out by the medical and nursing staff of the operating block in collaboration with that of the orthopedics department of San Leonardo.

In Castellammare, in the year 2023, the femoral neck fractures treated in elderly patients over sixty-five were 205, almost all of them with a positive outcome.

Significant numbers achieved thanks to the commitment of healthcare workers, but also to the incessant work of the strategic and management management with a view to ensuring increasingly effective services to the citizens of the ASL Napoli 3 Sud.
