The Carabinieri of Ragusa have made nine arrests: the subjects are held responsible for possession and dealing of large quantities of narcotic substances. Precautionary detention in prison was ordered for three of the suspects, house arrest was ordered for four, while the last two were ordered to stay. The investigation, conducted by the operational and mobile radio unit of the Ragusa company with the coordination of the Ragusa Public Prosecutor’s Office, made it possible to dismantle a thriving drug dealing network with a turnover of over 30 thousand euros. Today’s operation began a few days after the previous one which led to the arrest of 5 people on April 19th. The military forces took 3 other people to prison, all from Ragusa between the ages of 24 and 37, while 4, a 22-year-old from Ragusa, two Albanians aged 23 and 26 and a 31-year-old Romanian ended up under house arrest. The suspects will have to respond, for various reasons, to possession for the purpose of dealing drugs and one of them also to the hypothesis of the crime of “extortion”. Furthermore, they will have to answer for the aggravating circumstances of drug dealing against minors and near educational institutions, as well as for complicity and specific recidivism within five years. During the investigations, which developed in parallel with those that led to the arrests made last April, the soldiers of the Operational and Radiomobile Unit of the Ragusa Company documented numerous sales of marijuana, hashish and cocaine, all of which took place in the historic center of the capital ibleo. Also in this case the operational activity, corroborated by technical investigations, would have allowed the reconstruction of the movements and modus operandi adopted by the pushers, similar to the latest investigative reconstructions, with sales at home or in isolated locations, away from prying eyes. . During the operation, three arrests were made in flagrante delicto, as well as several seizures of drugs and material suitable for packaging the substance, with an estimated value of over 30 thousand euros. The Iblea Public Prosecutor’s Office, fully sharing the investigative findings produced by the Carabinieri, has requested the Preliminary Investigations Judge of the Ragusa Court to issue the personal precautionary measures carried out this morning by the Ragusa Carabinieri. The investigation also made it possible to report another 5 people in a state of freedom, ascertaining a total of over 330 sales of narcotic substances, and to identify more than 68 buyers.
