In the town of Amaroni, following a report from a citizen, the Carabinieri of the Radiomobile Division of the Girifalco Company saved a “barn owl”, a nocturnal bird of prey belonging to a “protected species”.
The still young, small specimen, in obvious difficulty, had difficulty flying, was disoriented and ran the risk of being hit by passing cars.
The soldiers on patrol duty, having noticed his presence and the obvious difficulties, stopped and provided first aid. Subsequently, the young bird of prey was entrusted to the CRAS Wild Animal Recovery Center in Catanzaro.
Now, the bird will be treated and observed until it is judged to be healed and ready to take flight again.
Today’s episode, in addition to confirming the constant presence of the Army patrols in the area, further underlines their great sensitivity to wildlife and environmental issues and the great synergy with the local communities among which the Army is called to operate.
