The body of a deceased person was stolen from the Caserta cemetery during the night. The shattered marble plaque. The macabre discovery was made by the cemetery caretaker late yesterday afternoon, Saturday 4 May 2024. The officers of the Local Police of Caserta, directed by the Commander Colonel Antonio Piricelli. The body of the deceased who was allegedly stolen has yet to be identified. The name, as far as Fanpage.it understands, was on the tombstone which was shattered. But it seems it was a man.

The macabre discovery made by the caretaker

The discovery occurred late on Saturday afternoon following the caretaker’s report. The municipal police intervened at the municipal cemetery located in Via Cappuccini to carry out checks on a niche. From the findings carried out by the Local Police Agents and from an initial reconstruction of the scene, it was found that the external part of the niche had been destroyed and shattered, thus remaining uncovered and that inside there was no ossuary containing the remains of the deceased .

Investigations were started to ascertain whether the remains of the deceased had been moved to another location within the cemetery, carrying out immediate checks on site and also contacting those responsible for the sector. All hypotheses are being examined by the Local Police, including the alleged theft of the ossuary with the remains currently unknown. The cemetery caretaker, at the invitation of Commander Piricelli, formalized the complaint at the offices of the Local Police Command.
