Teramo participates in the celebrations of the feast of Santa Caterina. Bishop Leuzzi celebrates solemn masses, mayor D’Alberto delivers the blessed oil as a gift from the city

SIENA – The experience lived by the Nisea Choir directed by the teacher Claudia Morelli in the evocative setting of the Siena Cathedral was exciting, where the choristers and a delegation from the Diocese of Teramo, with the mayor Gianguido D’Alberto, participated in the celebrations of the feast of Saint Catherine, co-patron of Italy and Europe.

The large group from Teramo filled the cathedral of the city of the Palio, the first community outside the Sienese archdiocese to directly participate in the celebrations. The Teramo group brought a gift to the archbishop of Siena, cardinal Augusto Paolo Lojudicethe oil for the votive lamp that Bishop Lorfenzo Leuzzi had blessed in the presence of the mayor on April 29th in the Cathedral of Teramo.

The bishop and the mayor already since Friday 3 May are present in the Tuscan city, where they participated in the concert in the Cathedral of Siena performed by the choir and orchestra of the ‘Franci’ conservatory of Siena, by the Sienese polyphonic choirs together with the Nisea choir of Teramo and by the two children’s choirs, the ‘SICH ‘ of the Chigiana academy and the Nisea of ​​Teramo.

Yesterday, together with the diocesan delegation, Bishop Lorenzo Leuzzi presided over the Solemn Holy Mass with the ‘Confirmation of the Creed’ for those confirmed and those to be confirmed. Then followed the procession which from the Basilica of San Domenico reached the Campo where speeches were held by Cardinal Lojudice, the mayor of Siena, Nicoletta Fabio, of Teramo, Gianguido D’Alberto, and Monsignor Lorenzo Leuzzi. Immediately afterwards, the blessing with the relic of the Saint was given to the city, the Archdiocese, Italy and Europe. At the end there was a flag-waving from the districts.

This morning at 10, in the Sanctuary-House of Santa Caterina the traditional offering of oil for the votive lamp was held which this year was donated by the Municipality of Teramo: it was delivered by the mayor D’Alberto, representing the Municipalities of ‘Italy. Monsignor Leuzzi will subsequently concelebrate with Cardinal Lojudice, the Solemn Mass, presided over by Cardinal Lazzaro You Heung-Sik, prefect of the Dicastery for the Clergy.
