YesterdaySaturday 4 May, at the Monsignor Capretti Auditorium of the Artigianelli Institute of Brescia, LElena Travaini received the title Melvin Jones Fellow of the Lions in Luino. The prize is the highest recognition awarded by LCIF (Lions Clubs International Foundation), celebrated by Lions District 108 IB2 (Bergamo/ Brescia/ Mantua).

The reason? There ten-year career in training and dance and the mai method experienced before dancing in the dark “Blindly Dancing”. The initiative involved over 300,000 people around the world. Furthermore, the “Donate a color to a child” project, which Elena created in 2019, supported approximately 20 pediatric oncology hospital facilities in Italy through the donation of recreational and creative material.

During the event it was Elena’s collaboration with the Caribbean dance master was highlighted Graziano Zaniboni of Fusion Dance of Brescia. Graziano collaborated on the project, together with around twenty dance teachers and more, collecting further materials intended for the children of the pediatric oncology department of the Padua hospital. The collected materials were delivered to Nicola Piazzon and Marta Carraro of the Amici Miei Singing Group association in Padua – which deals with victims of bullying and cyberbullying.

Roberto Lachin also attended the eventco-host with Elena of “Motto Podcast“, a program that addresses issues of inclusion and visual disability. Also present was the board of the associationUntagged“, of which Elena is president together with the vice-president Silvia Gozzi and officials Gioele Ravizza, Beatrice Rossi and Manuel Morandi.

Untagged deals with valorization of social inclusion against discrimination through artistic projects. The association has affiliated with the sports promotion body Libertas, through the contribution and support of Silvia Silistrini – Libertas Brescia -, who shares the values ​​of Elena and Silvia and their team and is constantly committed to helping the association to promote its projects in both the cultural and sporting fields.

A moment of great pride was shared with Elena’s daughter, Aurora, visibly moved by the recognition given to her mother. The dress worn by Elena, created by the young and promising Como designer Andrea Rizzo, added a unique touch to the ceremony. Her choice of stylist – still a student at the Da Vinci Institute and the Norlem Fashion Institute – reflects Elena’s desire to enhance personal stories of resilience and passion towards her dreams.

Special thanks were addressed to Federica Silistrini, of the Gussago Franciacorta Lions Club, for her commitment in supporting Elena’s candidacy for this prestigious award. Other representatives of the Lions were also present, including the President Giovanni Canu of the Lovere Lions Club, Enrico De Tavonatti of the Sarnico and Franciacorta Lions Club, Francesco Naviglio of the Sebino Lions Club, Manuel Marchesi of the Val Calepio Val Cavallina Lions Club and Enza Novelli De Michelis of the Lions Club Vallecamonica.

With this ceremony, Lions Clubs International continue their mission of service and support to communities, underlining the importance of humanitarian commitment in every corner of the world.
