There will be three competing for the top seat of San Costanzo in the elections on 8 and 9 June. After Milena Volpe and Domenico Carbone, Davide Bruscia, 61 years old, a well-known entrepreneur in the wine sector, married and father of three children, also announces his candidacy for mayor.
Bruscia, what pushed you to this step?
“The disdain for how the town is reduced. I served as a municipal councilor for two terms, from 1986 to ’91 and then from 2014 to 2019 and now, at 61 years old, I have decided to create my own team, because as a Sancostanzese doc, born, lived and has always worked here, seeing the country in this state really makes me angry. We need a change of gear.”
Why, how is San Costanzo reduced?
“The road system is a disaster. The municipal roads have never been in such pitiful conditions, with obscene surfaces and potholes like craters. On the walls of the historic center there is grass one meter high and in our beautiful square, as an emblem of the neglect and the lack of ordinary maintenance, the fountain has been without water for some years because its operating mechanism has never been repaired. And then, there is the problem of population decline and the consequent death of commercial establishments. Recently two bars, a laundry and a hardware store closed and at this rate we will have an increasingly bleak scenario.”
The decrease in inhabitants and the closure of small shops are issues that concern most municipalities.
“It’s true, but I don’t like the policy of ‘it’s like this, we can’t do anything about it’. To prevent people from leaving but, on the contrary, choosing to come and live in San Costanzo, which has the fortunate to be near the sea and to have a very beautiful area, we need to take care of all aspects and offer more services”.
Okay, but if he becomes mayor, what things will he do first?
“First of all I would fix the streets and dedicate myself to the decoration of the inhabited centers of the capital, Cerasa and Stacciola. And at the same time I would work for the creation of a municipal nursery, because here there are only private structures”.
Other priorities?
“Ensure that the issue regarding the Monteschiantello landfill is closed, definitively averting the possibility of its expansion and, furthermore, activate a path together with Monte Porzio and Mondolfo to create a union of municipalities that could also lead to a merger , which would allow us to obtain many more resources from the state.”
Bruscia, what list did you make and what name did you choose?
“We called it ‘San Costanzo protagonist’ and it is a civic and non-partisan group, made up of people with different political ideas, united by the desire to commit totally to the country”.
