The book on the Civic Museum of Barletta wins the “Conversano – Maria Marangelli” Award – BarlettaLive.it

The volume “The collections of the Civic Museum of Barletta. Art, history and paths of memory between Southern Italy and Europe” (Claudio Grenzi Editore) was awarded the “Conversano – Maria Marangelli” Study Award in the “Miscellaneous” section.
Luisa Derosa, Francesco Picca and Victor Rivera Magos, authors of the publication, will be awarded at 6 pm on May 8th in Conversano, in the Palazzo di Città, where the Jury of the XXVII edition will intervene, represented by prof. Cosimo Damiano Fonseca of the Accademia dei Lincei, by professors Annastella Carrino and Carmela Roscino of the University of Bari, by the writer Raffaele Nigro.
A work, the one dedicated to the museum finds of Barletta, perfectly articulated in over three hundred pages full of images, with essays and fact sheets resulting from the assiduous collaboration between the Association of the Norman Swabian Studies Center APS and the municipal administration of Barletta in the field of the research program “History of the city of Barletta”, undertaken in 2016.
A precious and fundamental work for the valorization of the historical-artistic heritage of the city, where the collections, the donors and the works preserved in the Civic Museum are protagonists of a story that unites centuries of history, covering a chronological period that goes from the first archaeological attestations to the art of the twentieth century. Thanks to this work, supported by extensive research in numerous Italian archives and libraries, unpublished works have also come to light, signed by internationally renowned artists.
The Mayor Cosimo Cannito and the Councilor for Culture Oronzo Cilli express heartfelt congratulations to the architects of a success accredited by the municipal administration.

“Last year – they say – when the book was presented at the “Maggio dei libri” in Barletta, we did not hesitate in appreciating the qualitative figure of the publication which, thanks to the professionalism of the curators, strengthens the recognizability of the city’s historical and artistic heritage, cataloging it meticulously for the benefit of readers who gain an all-encompassing experience. The award – the Mayor and Councilor underline again – validates the cooperation between the Municipality of Barletta and the Norman-Svevi Study Center Association, which has masterfully interpreted an intelligent, innovative path of cultural promotion in a broad, global perspective”.
