Lazio ahead at half-time in Monza thanks to a goal by Ciro Immobile. The Biancocelesti’s best scorer of all time was relaunched in the 1st minute by Igor Tudor, something that hadn’t happened since the derby last April 6th. He repays the coach’s trust after 7 minutes with a tap-in from the penalty area as a true opportunist: Kamada’s shot, Di Gregorio deflects onto the crossbar, the ball returns to the field with the center forward who is quicker than anyone and scores the winning shot . He hadn’t scored for almost 3 months, precisely since Valentine’s Day against Bayern in the Champions League, while for the championship we have to go back to February 10th in Cagliari.
Overall a balanced match, the surprising substitution made by Igor Tudor in the 32nd minute stands out, with Mattia Zaccagni taken off the field as he was booked after just 15 minutes for a harsh intervention by Birindelli. Tudor therefore preferred to protect the attacking winger from the risk of a second yellow. A choice which, however, was not taken very well by the player, who at the moment of his substitution avoided meeting the gaze of the Croatian coach who tried to cheer him up with a pat on the shoulder.
