During the “Firenze in Campo” broadcast on Radio FirenzeViola he spoke Luca Ceccarelli. The former defender, who made his Serie A debut with Fiorentina, played for Verona from 2008 to 2013, the Viola’s next league opponent. Here are his words:

On Verona fighting for salvation and Fiorentina engaged in the Conference League.
“I think it’s a delicate match for both. Verona will reach the last match to find out whether they will remain in Serie A or not, while Fiorentina has their attention focused on the cup, even if there are other matches to play. It will be a match fought on both sides.”

On Club Brugge’s 2-2 goal.
“As a former defender, I don’t want to judge. When you’re on the pitch, situations have to be experienced. Fiorentina’s attitude is to always attack, but at that moment with the extra man, that goal could have been avoidable.”

On the twinned fans.
“The relationship outside the stadium is very good, but on the pitch the match is lived with tension and fear, because that’s what counts. The points up for grabs are worth a lot, especially for Verona. Whoever makes fewer mistakes takes home important points The match will be managed by Fiorentina who will try to lead it, while Verona will be ready to restart and will have to work a lot on transitions.”

On the period at Fiorentina in that difficult moment for the club.
“That period was splendid, but unfortunately it wasn’t for the club which was heading towards bankruptcy. For me the debut was unexpected. Several boys were catapulted from the Primavera to the first team, something that normally wouldn’t have happened in those ways. It’s a important leap that makes you grow because you have to be ready to immediately immerse yourself in those situations. Young people today must remain calm and make themselves available to try to listen to their teammates who can help them.”

On the Veronese period.
“In Verona I made an important journey. The city is similar to Florence. Even at that time the club was not going through a good moment and we risked falling to Serie C 2. I therefore witnessed the rebirth up to the top flight. I became a man there, I did things seriously and honestly, and that was the important thing for me.”
