Mauro Baldascino

Mauro Baldascino made his first public appearance, albeit informal, as a candidate for mayor of the centre-left yesterday evening at the assembly of La Politica che Serve. In front of about a hundred people, Libera’s representative thanked Alfonso Golia’s movement for “the party-like organization and the passion and enthusiasm of the members”. The initiative promoted by the group led by the former mayor of Aversa took place at the end of a day full of twists and turns. First the LPCS document, with the clear rejection of the agreement between Pd and M5S on the name of Filippo Panza. Then the decision of the Five Star Movement to remove their candidate from the fray to crown Baldascino leader of the coalition. And finally the PD statement that returned to Baldascino, reuniting the centre-left. And the interventions of the leaders of La Politica che Serve revolved around the latest political developments, starting with Golia and Antonio Di Ronza, followed by all the outgoing municipal administrators. Nicola Grimaldi for the Democratic Center, Antonio Dell’Aquila for Avs and Gabriele Vedova for Aversa Progressista also spoke. The large participation confirmed the central role of the Goliath movement not only within the center-left grouping but more generally in Aversa politics. At the municipal elections, Politics That Serves will line up all the big names. Alfonso Golia will not run so as not to take away space from the other members of the group. The former mayor will play a political role and will remain the point of reference for the list. Mariano Scuotri, Mario De Michele, Paolo Cesaro, Mimmo Menale and Antonio Andreozzi will almost certainly be on the pitch. But there will also be important new entries. Politics that Serve wants to be the most voted list of the coalition. An ambitious but not impossible goal. Goliath and company still have considerable popular support. And they want to prove it with numbers in hand.
