Pine tree falls on warehouse in Darsena

Viareggio – The firefighters of the Viareggio detachment had to intervene to remove a pine tree which fell on the roof of a warehouse of the Versilia Survery company in via Paolo Savi in Darsena on Friday evening

The plant, whose foliage had recently been lightened with pruning, collapsed due to the failure of the roots which broke under its weight given that, at the time of the collapse, there were no particularly violent weather events present.

The area is the responsibility of the Port Authority which had reported these plants as dangerous to the superintendent who however gave approval to the felling of only one pine tree of the 4 that had been reported. In fact, the agronomist in charge would have certified the stability of the other 3, including the one that fell.

And now there is concern among the owners of nautical businesses and commercial activities in the area because coexistence with the pine trees is already complicated enough by the state of the road surface, the uncertainty about their stability is certainly an additional element that will deepened with further examinations and leak tests.
