A series of checks conducted by the Carabinieri of the Labor Inspectorate Unit (NIL) of Treviso revealed serious irregularities in several companies in the province, leading to the suspension of activities and fines for a total of 220,000 euros.

TREVISO. The campaign of controls carried out by the Carabinieri of the Labor Inspectorate Unit (NIL) of Treviso, in collaboration with the Territorial Police, brought to light numerous irregularities regarding workers’ employment and workplace safety. The inspection activity, which involved the entire provincial territory and various sectors, such as construction, public businesses and agriculture, revealed incorrect practices and shortcomings in worker protection.

Five “illegal” workers were discovered during the checks, all engaged in work activities without any insurance or social security coverage, exposing them to serious risks and without legal protection. In Colle Umberto, the Carabinieri suspended the business activity of a construction site that employed two irregular workers and had failed to draw up the Operational Safety Plan, an essential document for ensuring safety on construction sites.

Similar situations have been found in other areas. In Vazzola, a car wash was closed because it employed an “illegal” worker, while in San Fior, an agricultural company was suspended for hiring a non-EU citizen without valid documents. In Cornuda, a body shop was stopped because the owner employed an illegal worker, who was removed from the workplace.

Workplace safety violations were equally concerning. In Codognè, a construction site was suspended because workers were working on the roof without protection against falls, putting their lives at risk. In Mareno di Piave, another construction company was closed for carrying out work on a construction site without the Operational Safety Plan.

Inspectors found a series of violations, including failure to use personal protective equipment, failure to train workers and failure to appoint a competent doctor. Overall, the infringements detected led to fines totaling 220,000 euros.

These checks highlight the need for strict compliance with work and safety regulations. The Treviso NIL Carabinieri will continue their inspection activity to ensure that workers’ rights are respected and that safety in the workplace is not compromised.
