“We read with interest the press note from an employers’ union which highlights the serious infrastructural deficiencies in the province of Agrigento. This is a well-known reality and repeatedly brought to the attention of public opinion by the Social Cartel, also through a popular demonstration (2020) which called on citizens to march in support of the right to be able to use road infrastructure at least decent, as well as safe.” The Agrigento Social Cartel writes this in a note.
The statement reads: “A few weeks ago there was a meeting in the prefecture with the vicar to whom the sad reality of Agrigento on this issue was represented in great detail. Precise proposals have been put forward, also made public through the press which unfortunately, in a context of overall silence, remain a voice in a desert. It seems clear that the political class does not seem to want to get its hands dirty in a commitment in this direction even if on the other hand it is important that others, together with the social cartel, begin to feel the sensitivity to denounce this emergency. We are confident in the reaction that is emerging because people are tired and the associations, the social forces can no longer handle the problems of their members and sooner or later even the city of Agrigento, whoever administers it, the delegation at all levels will have to take act that there is a risk that they will be overwhelmed by the legitimate protest of those who claim their rights such as roads, water, efficient healthcare and we could continue for a long time to denounce the denied rights.”
The Social Cartel concludes: “We would like to ask one last question to that political class that is responsible for organizing the future of the territory: but not even the prospect that in 2025 Agrigento will play the role of Italian capital of culture stimulates you to do something in favor of this Earth?”
