Skipper Paolo Terenzi’s Telea is the winner of the 38th Pesaro-Pola. A surprise triumph for the boat representing the Cattolica Nautical Club, which had no ambitions other than to improve its times compared to previous participations. But the calm that stopped the race of the leaders in the entrance canal to Pola favored the small size of the ‘Bavaria’ from Romagna who crossed the finish line at 4.09.40” in the morning. Great battle for the podium: the second, Valentina 4 of skipper Mauro Tinti (Ravenna Yachting Club) arrived just 2′ later while the third, Gap IV of skipper Ubaldo Santarelli (Ancona Yachting Club) a minute later. Then, at 4 and 19′ here is the Chica Boba II of Giovanni Gasparini (Compagnia della Vela Pesaro), X Be of Roberto Garbuglia (Porto Civitanova) and Stardust of Letterio Morabito (Lega Navale Ancona), the winning boat of the 2023 edition.
“It was exciting – says Telea’s skipper –: we were in front of the port together with the first six, stuck by the calm, while the rest of the group arrived with the speed of the wind and they overtook us. At that point instead of the gennaker we had decided to fit the tail, a sail that was easier to manage, and we all sailed at 1.7 knots. I have to recognize the skill of Luca Falcioni, who was at the helm at the time. With a 2002 boat, which we transformed to make it faster we hoped for a good result, but certainly not to win the regatta”.
