‘Gourmet’ thieves were making off with a thousand euros worth of groceries

Bondeno. The police arrested a 36-year-old from Ferrara and a 43-year-old from Comacchio for theft in a supermarket.

In the late morning of Thursday 2 May, in a commercial establishment in Bondeno, the two filled the trolley with food: oil, cheeses, various bottles of alcohol and various cured meats. However, they decided not to go through
cash register to pay for the goods but to force an emergency exit and walk away with the loot.

However, they were discovered by the sales staff who immediately alerted the police to whom they provided the description of the two. The Bondeno carabinieri patrol arrived immediately and identified them not far from the business, recognizing them thanks to the information provided to them. The two still had part of the stolen goods with them, while the trolley and other food products had been hidden nearby, behind a hedge.

At first they admitted that they had only taken possession of the few goods they had with them, but a more careful inspection allowed the police to find the trolley with all the goods stolen from the shop shortly before.

The goods, worth around 1,000 euros, were returned to the rightful owner and the couple were arrested by the police. The woman was accompanied to her house under house arrest, while the man spent the night in the safety rooms of the Ferrara police, as ordered by the prosecutor on duty.

On the morning of May 3, the court hearing was held in Ferrara, where the arrest was validated. The man was transferred to the prison in via Arginone, while the woman was subjected to the obligation to reside in the municipality where she is domiciled.
