Bari, house arrest confirmed for Alfonso and Enzo Pisicchio

Alfonsino and Enzo Pisicchio remain under house arrest. The Court of Review of Bari, reports Ansa, rejected the requests for annulment of the precautionary measures presented by the lawyers of the two brothers arrested last April 10th.

Alfonsino Pisicchio is accused of complicity in corruption and bid rigging, his brother Enzo is accused of complicity in corruption, bid rigging and issuing invoices for non-existent transactions. The news, anticipated by the Gazzetta del Mezzogiorno, was confirmed to Ansa. The reasons will be made known within 45 days.

Alfonsino Pisicchio’s defense had discussed the request for review in recent days. The hearing took place yesterday in which Enzo Pisicchio’s lawyers asked the judges to cancel the precautionary measure due to the lack of precautionary need for the risk of repetition of the crime, both because the facts date back to over four years ago and both because the suspect no longer holds any political office. The Prosecutor’s Office opposed it, asking for the precautionary measure to be maintained and reaffirming the existence of the risk of recurrence.
