The best granita in Sicily is not as famous as that of Catania, but it is becoming popular: Amadeus flew there just to try it
Sicilian granita is famous throughout our peninsula, and not only that, even throughout the world. From Catania, to Palermo, up to Taormina and the Aeolian Islands: all the most touristy places in Sicily are attacked every summer to try the lightest and most famous dessert.
However, few people are aware of Bar Roma’s historic granita. The small provincial bar is known by locals, but not by tourists who come from far away.
The famous Sanremo presenter, Amadeus, however, having had Sicilian origins for several generations now (the grandparents and the parents), decided to fly right to one of the little-known places of Sicily, to enjoy the calm, the traditions and everything that a land so rich in simplicity can offer, where fishermen are still the protagonists of the territory. We’re talking about Sciacca.
Known for its characteristic carnival, Sciacca is impervious to the sea, near Agrigento, home to around 40 thousand inhabitants. Among the delicacies of this land, the famous granita from Bar Roma wins. A historic bar, whose owner Aurelio is well-liked by the entire community.

Amadeus was interviewed inside the venueright after having tasted the famous granita, and it is here that the host admitted that he had found excellent refreshment and a warm welcome in a place like Aurelio’s Bar Roma, so much so that he wanted to take action to bring it to the program on Affari Tuoi.
“My bond with Sicily is strong – the host then explains into the microphones – because my parents and grandparents are Sicilian, specifically from Palermo”.
