The Elite group of the baseball championship is staging the first big match between Bologna and Parma over the weekend. Both victorious on their debut, three times with the two teams from Grosseto. The other hat-trick was achieved by San Marino which tonight (8pm) and tomorrow (3pm and 8pm) hosts a Maremma team, BBC Grosseto, a match which took place in the semi-finals in 2022. The manager of the Tuscans is Junior Oberto, old acquaintance of the titans, while Doriano Bindi has every intention of continuing on the path undertaken with Macerata.
«With Macerata – says the San Marino manager – the first two games went well, we won the third thanks to the performance of a single, but the hat-trick, especially at the beginning of the season, is an excellent result».
More or less than the debut team? «On the mound we only allowed three runs. We need to improve in terms of control because 16 base balls is a lot. In batting we are at the beginning and we need to grow, but it is normal in the first season of the championship.”
The only setback was Alvarez’s finger injury, but nothing serious and the catcher will be monitored and evaluated day by day. Bindi confirms last week’s rotation on the mound, then ball to Quevedo, Pomponi, De Leon, respectively opposite Gonzalez Valera, Soto Lopez and the Cuban Carbo.
Throwing the first ball this evening will be Joe Mazzuca who has written important pages (and raised several trophies) in the history of San Marino baseball.
