Jabil workers in procession after the company’s farewell to the Caserta area

After the meeting with the delegates of Fiom, Fim, Uilm and Failms, the Jabil workers decided to march in a procession in the streets adjacent to the plant to demonstrate their dissent to the multinational’s decision to abandon the territory. “With facts and not talk, as professional politicians continue to do, we are fighting to defend companies and jobs in an area that is experiencing unstoppable industrial desertification,” say the unions.

“The meeting with the management of Jabil was held at Mimit, with the company’s HRW present, the territorial and national secretaries of Fim Fiom Uilm, representatives of the Campania Region and Invitalia. At the beginning, the Jabil managers reiterated that the multinational does not believe their presence in the Caserta area is more profitable. Their business model is not compatible and sustainable with the Italian market, which is too fragmented Jabil would be there and could also be supported by the Ministry through the involvement of Invitalia participating in part of the share capital”. This is what we read in a joint union note from Fim, Fiom and Uilm.

“It was not said further – they explain – about the hypothetical industrial project, who the entrepreneur or the company is, what employment prospects it guarantees, which customers it brings with it? There was no response. The union delegation underlined that for some time there is a rumor in the company about who Jabil intends to transfer the management of the industrial activity to. This hypothesis does not offer any prospect of continuity of work and is not accepted by the workers. The situation remains dramatic also because Jabil has not invested in the Caserta site for years.” .

The table has been reconvened on May 27th. The workers await a repositioning of Jabil.
