“The workers of Terni Reti demonstrate professionalism and competence every day and cannot be mortified by extemporaneous statements, such as those of the mayor of Terni, which do not take into account the dignity of the work carried out”. This is what we read in a note from Filcams Cgil, Fisascat Cisl and Uiltucs Uil of Terni who return to Stefano Bandecchi’s statements on the subsidiary (“another of those companies created to waste time and steal money from the citizens of Terni”), after having met the trade union delegates of Terni Reti in recent days.

The unions remind the administration that the agreements between the Municipality and the company are the result of decisions taken within the City Council.

“In the signed agreements – we read in the note – it has always been agreed on the need to guarantee maximum flexibility in the organization and performance of the company’s services, in order to make them immediately efficient and effective, as required by the Industrial Plan of Temi Reti Srl and in compliance with the expectations of the municipal administration and citizens and it is with this spirit of maximum collaboration that trade union relations were established”.

The three acronyms also remind us that the Ztl was not defined to “guarantee service to Terni Reti employees”, as carelessly stated, but rather for a “need shared by political forces to provide answers in terms of quality of urban living”.

“In the recent past, in many areas of the country – Filcams Fisascat and Uiltucs underline – the choice was made to completely close the historic centers to urban traffic. Terni has adopted a policy that has limited part of the city to traffic, allowing citizens access to most urban streets.”

According to the union, the historic center should be seen as an urban settlement structure that constitutes “cultural unity and identity”. “The development of urban areas in city government policies – we read again in the note – passes through the definition of projects for environmental redevelopment, but also of a real offer between different activities, not only commercial ones”.

“These are the reasons that lead to careful reflection on the municipal companies, rejecting statements that have the flavor of a political battle, which becomes dignified only if it does not denigrate the work that Terni Reti employees carry out with commitment”, conclude Filcams, Fisascat and Uiltucs of Terni.
