The 2024/2025 hunting calendar has been defined in Umbria

Unanimous consensus for the hunting dates during the meeting of the Hunting Faunistic Council.

In a meeting recently held at the offices of the Regional Department in Palazzo Broletto, the Wildlife Hunting Council unanimously established the hunting calendar for the 2024/2025 season, involving the main hunting associations in the region.

The session marked the third consecutive year in which the Hunting Calendar was approved with the full agreement of all interested parties, marking a significant example of collaboration between the administration and hunter representatives. Among the established dates, the pre-opening day set for Sunday 1st September stands out, dedicated exclusively to hunting wild doves from ambush. For the first time, a specific web application will be used which will allow the hunt to be automatically suspended when the harvest limit established for the region is reached.

During the same meeting, the proposal was put forward, currently under evaluation by ISPRA (Higher Institute for Environmental Protection and Research), to extend the pre-opening also to starlings, as well as evaluating the inclusion of other species such as the hooded crow. and the magpie.

The hunting season will officially begin on Sunday 15 September 2024 and will continue until 30 January 2025, in accordance with the national regulations in force. Particular attention was paid to wild boar hunting, for which a single opening date was decided for the entire regional territory, set for 20 October 2024, with closing on 19 January 2025.

The agreement reached represents a step forward in the management of hunting in Umbria, with the aim of guaranteeing a sustainable and regulated practice that respects both the needs of enthusiasts and the protection of species and natural habitats. The success of this initiative is an example of the region’s constant commitment to harmonizing hunting activities with environmental and community directives, aiming for a balance between local traditions and the conservation of biodiversity.
