COSENZA – Nine are the villages involved in the network of Hospital Communities of Calabria, distributed between the provinces of Catanzaro, Cosenza and Crotone. In addition to Melissa, the “cellar village” where wine becomes the vector of an authentic community, we continue with Gizzeria, the “village of Ligea”, an optimal place to build a new life project, Miglierina, the “village of light”, which stands out for its valorisation of the local environment, for its creativity and for its widespread hospitality, Serrastretta, the “village of the chair” famous for the valorization of the wood supply chain and for the artisanal quality of its carpentry, Casali del Manco, the “healthy and plural village”, where you can breathe the cleanest air in Europe; Laino Castello, the “village between history and landscape” rich in traces of ancient civilizations and cultural pathsSan Lorenzo Bellizzi, the “outdoor village” famous for its hospitable tourism network (and for its ham), Canna, the “music village”, which here becomes the universal language of a living community, and Roseto Capo Spulico, the “village of (different) abilities” where local identity is reworked in an inclusive sense.
The result is a network of communities united not only by a set of shared values but also by the same development tools. A new model, but with roots rooted in tradition and an ancient heart, of conceiving a community as a place to live – for a time that can be short or very long – an authentic experience. And where at the same time you feel part of a way of experiencing the territory, of enjoying common spaces, which still today reaffirms its reasons for being.
Nine villages, nine different ways of experiencing a land, a region, a culture. Nine villages but a single network: the path to creating the Network of Hospital Communities of Calabria, the co-planning experience born from the collaboration between the Association of Authentic Villages of Italy, Legacoop Calabria and the Calabria Region and which involves local administrations, associations, operators in the tourism sector, third sector entities and citizens. Another idea of staying, a new way of experiencing the area, following an innovative philosophy of hospitality. Welcoming, attracting, but also retaining: it is with the network of Hospital Communities of Calabria that the villages become places to live in everyday life. No longer simple postcard views but communities capable of retaining resident citizens and welcoming temporary ones, thanks to actions and initiatives that put people at the centre.
