The team of the Democratic Party of Puglia that will participate in the next European elections has been completed.

There will be four Apulian candidates, coming from four different provinces, with the hope of bringing the voice of the entire region to Brussels. This is the deputy mayor of Aradeo since 2017, Georgia Tramacere, cultural operator, born in 1987; by Shady Alizadeh, lawyer expert in corporate gender welfare born in Barletta in 1989; by Giammario Spada, administrative employee from Taranto born in 1996 and provincial secretary of the GD; by Antonio Decaro, twice mayor of Bari and national president of Anci born in 1970.

“These are candidatures in the name of renewal – states the regional secretary of the dem Domenico De Santis – which brings together experience and freshness. With these candidates we are certain that we represent the different peculiarities that distinguish our Puglia. If on the one hand we have Antonio Decaro, who has already amply demonstrated that he is one of the best Mayors in Italy, on the other we have nominated young people who represent strong and deep-rooted experiences in welfare, in cultural planning, in the fight for human rights and type. Good luck to our candidates, we are already working to represent Puglia and the South in Europe with the values ​​of peace, equity, social inclusion and economic growth that is sustainable and respectful of the environment”.

Who are the candidates:

Georgia Tramacere, born in Galatina on 12-01-1987.

Graduated in international relations. Profession: Cultural operator in the Theater sector.

Always involved in the sector of cultural welfare and cultural planning.

Deputy mayor in the municipality of Aradeo since 2017.

Member of the provincial secretariat of the PD with responsibility for culture and tourism.

Shady Alizadeh, Barletta 1989, lawyer expert in corporate gender welfare. She is an activist in the Donna Vita Libertà movement (woman for life and freedom) for the recognition of democracy in Iran, she coordinates the human rights department of the Puglia PD, a member of the national coordination of democratic women. You organized the meeting between the national PD and Taghi Rahmani, husband of the 2023 Nobel Peace Prize winner, Narges Mohammadi, currently detained in Iranian prisons. You often speak on the topic of human and gender rights in newspapers such as Repubblica, Domani, la Stampa.

Giammario Spada, born in Taranto in 1996. Always politically involved, he has played various roles in the Democratic Party, demonstrating great commitment and attention to the rights of all citizens, in particular the young and the weakest.

Antonio Decaro born in Bari, born in 1970. Transport engineer, he became technical councilor for mobility of the Municipality of Bari for the first time in 2004 at just 34 years old. In just five years he revolutionized mobility in Bari by creating the first interchange car parks and cycle paths and transformed the old city into a large limited traffic area, freeing the alleys and squares of the historic center from cars. In 2010 he was elected regional councilor of the Democratic Party and here he continued with transport and sustainable mobility policies. He brings home the law on regional cycling mobility with a double signature with Guglielmo Minervini, but also the law on widespread hotel and open data. He arrived in Parliament in the ranks of the Democratic Party in 2013 but there was little time left because the city of Bari called him back to Puglia in 2014 for the local elections. Antonio Decaro became mayor for the first time in his city in 2014 and again in 2019, elected in the first round with over 67% of the votes. In 2026 he became the second president in the history of the Anci (national association of municipalities) as mayor of a city in southern Italy. At the helm of the 8000 municipalities in Italy he is committed to defending the issues of local authorities.
