Via Pantini reopens, one-way for now – Pescara

PESCARA. Via Pantini reopens to traffic. From tomorrow to May 10th the road will be one-way, in a north-south direction, in the time slot between 7am and 7pm. This is established by an ordinance from the Municipality’s Mobility sector, to allow the completion of the works in that area. «Nothing will change, however», the Municipality says in a note, «for those who move in a south-north direction and will be able to continue along Via della Bonifica, arriving from Francavilla».
«In fact», comments the mayor Carlo Masci who gives the news together with the councilor Luigi Albore Mascia, «opens to traffic, becoming passable, the last stretch of the pendulum road which will be passable in two directions when all the reclamation works on the Pine Forest are completed, following the fire of recent years, aimed at its renaturalisation, with the construction of the fence of section 5 and a roundabout. At that point it will also be possible to close Via della Bonifica to traffic, for the unification of the sections. With tomorrow’s passage”, the mayor further explains, “the entire pendulum road that leads from one part of the city to the other will effectively be put into operation: an artery that will be completed after 40 years, a further step in the changes to the road system that we have designed for the southern area of Pescara also based on the expansion of the Pine Forest”.
«Together with the works actually started for the demolition of the trumpet junction», intervenes councilor Albore Mascia, «this Administration has had the administrative strength to implement a traffic revolution in the southern Pescara area that has been awaited for decades. We have carried out not only an operation to rationalize the road system in an access area to the city, but above all an initiative of fundamental environmental impact which further enhances the so-called green lung of the city, the D’Annunzio Reserve”.
