“For FIDAS – states the President, Giovanni Musso – the Congress represents an important moment to reflect on fundamental value of solidarity and human generosity. For decades, we have been committed to promoting the culture of blood donation and our associated donors contribute to saving lives, spreading hope to all those in need of transfusion therapies. Every day over 1,800 people undergo blood transfusionsnot to mention those who use plasma-derived drugs.”
This year the theme chosen is “The drop that makes life bloom again” and reflects the very essence of FIDAS’ mission. “Life – underlines the President – is the most precious gift we can offer and protect. Blood donation it is the concrete act that embodies this altruistic spirit”. During the Congress, a series of fundamental issues regarding the future of the Italian and foreign transfusion systems will be addressed.
The round table to be held Saturday 18 May 2024 entitled “European transfusion systems compared” in which the professor will participate Vincenzo De Angelisdirector of the Italian National Blood Center, of the French one, Professor Jean Baptiste Thibertand the Swiss one, professor Stefano Fontanatogether with other experts, will be an opportunity to highlight the important role that donors play in the healthcare sector and consequently the importance of blood donation in contemporary medical practice.
“It’s important – says Musso in this regard – understand how they are addressed in other countries challenges and opportunities regarding the awareness and education on blood donation. And what strategies are implemented to increase the participation and engagement of civil society in blood donation. Without forgetting the technological and scientific developments in the field of transfusion medicine. The Congress will also be an opportunity to celebrate the results of the FIDAS Federations which, during 2023, have made a decisive contribution to the national autonomy of blood and blood components, as well as to recognize the extraordinary value of the contribution that blood donors make on a daily basis for the well-being of the community in which they live”.

With its three fixed centers, their strengthening and the various awareness-raising activities it carries out in the area, we represent a point of reference for donors for the donation of plasma collection”.
Four days entirely dedicated to solidarity and giving: from Thursday 16th to Sunday 19 May 2024at the Opera Theater of the Municipal Casino of Sanremo, the 62nd FIDAS National Congress and the 41st Donor Day which will be held under the aegis of the Liguria Region, the Province of Imperia, the Municipality of Sanremo and the Municipal Casino, they will be protagonists of an event that will involve the 80 associations federated to FIDAS it’s almost 3 thousand people involved in the world of volunteering. An intense program which, in addition to conferences, will leave room for convivial meetings to share, in full FIDAS spirit, the beauty that lies behind a civic, supportive, voluntary, free and healthy gesture.
