the prosecutor’s office has opened a file on Il Tirreno

FLORENCE. Three letters of insults and threats to the principal Annalisa Savinothe director of the Leonardo Da Vinci scientific high school who became a symbol of anti-fascism after having written a circular addressed to her students in February 2023, following the beating, which took place a few days earlier in front of the Michelangelo, of some students of the collectives by Student Action militants.

Savino showed up at the Digos offices a few months ago, determined to file a complaint after receiving the third letter, the one where, in addition to the threats, excrement was also present. The prosecutor’s office has opened a file on the case. The investigations were carried out at 360 degrees, including all the necessary technical investigations.

However, no fingerprints were found in the letters, all addressed to the high school where Savino is principal. The excrement was also analysed, which turned out to be animal excrement.

The manager’s circular at the time of the events was deemed “improper” by the Minister of Education Giuseppe Valditara. In the letter addressed to her students, her principal wrote that «fascism in Italy was not born with large gatherings of thousands of people. It was born on the edge of an ordinary sidewalk, with the victim of a beating for political reasons who was left to fend for himself by indifferent passers-by.”

Solidarity for the threats suffered came to the school director from the centre-left mayoral candidate Sara Funaro: «Solidarity with principal Annalisa Savino – he stated – for the shameful threats and insults received. It is not tolerable that we try to intimidate her for having defended constitutional principles and for having inspired students to non-violence and dialogue. A hug to Annalisa, we are with you.”
