The official announcement arrived from Pescara: Giorgia Meloni will be a candidate for the European elections in all five national constituencies. It means that in Sardinia and Sicily, united in the constituency of the Islands, the key challenge will see the prime minister against the leader of the Democratic Party, Elly Schlein (the same script will also be repeated in the Center constituency, where the dem is equally in the running).
In Pescara, yesterday and today, the Brothers of Italy met for the programmatic conference closed by the Prime Minister at lunchtime. “Write Giorgia on the ballot”, was Meloni’s incitement when he announced his electoral march. During the two days in Abruzzo, FdI also completed the boxes that were missing in view of the vote on 8 and 9 June: in Sardinia the party decided to focus on the deputy Salvatore Deidda, preferred to Marco Porcu, councilor for the environment in the Solinas council .
Reservations also released for Avs: Francesco Muscau, regional secretary of the Greens, from Nuoro, 53 years old, is the second candidate chosen on the island for the European elections, after Ilaria Salis, the teacher detained in Hungary and indicated in recent days by the Italian Left, the other half of the alliance.
With Deidda and Muscau the Sardinians competing for the Strasbourg Parliament are completed. There are ten names in total on the list. For days they have been certain Michele Cossa, on whom the centrist axis led by Forza Italia, Riformatori and Noi Moderati was built (and open to new entries between now and the vote). The psychologist Angela Quaquero is the candidate of the Democratic Party; the university professor Gianni Fresu goes to the polls with “Peace, land, dignity”, Santoro’s list; the Five Star Movement chose Cinzia Pilo and Matteo Porcu; the League former senator Lina Lunesu. Finally, with Libertà, the electoral cartel of nineteen lists presented yesterday in Sardinia by the list leader Cateno De Luca, Barbara Figus, who is active in the Popolo della Famiglia, is in the field.
