There is no peace in the area of the so-called Porcinai gardens, on the corner of via Guido Monaco and via Spinello Arezzo, right in front of the Arezzo train station. There was another violent brawl today, Sunday 29 April: according to what witnesses reported, around twenty people, young and very young, took part in the clashes.
The reconstruction of the fight
Two factions punched, pushed and hit each other with chairs, with the plastic furnishings of the premises in the area brandished as weapons. The chaos, including violence and very loud shouts that alarmed residents and passers-by, lasted a few minutes. The police were alerted and arrived on site around 5pm, but upon their arrival the participants disappeared into the streets of the historic center of Arezzo.
The anger of residents and traders
“It’s a situation that has become unsustainable – a business owner in the area vents – we can no longer work in these conditions. Those who live here are scared, those who own a place have the constant fear that a commotion will break out at any moment . What do we have to do?”.
The long trail of violence
The fights have multiplied in recent times: the most recent occurred on the night between 19 and 20 April. Three days earlier a man had been injured by a blade in clashes. There had been another saloon fight on April 13th. And twenty days ago there was even an attempted murder. A situation that residents and venue managers now consider to be at its limit.
