On the first weekend of May (3-5) the final performance of the theater workshop “Do you like acting?” is staged at the Teatro dei Filodrammatici LA Mazzoni in Faenza. held by Daniele Porisini and started in mid-November 2023.
The essay “The Feast of Aphrodite” is freely taken from the works of one of the most famous playwrights of ancient Greece: Aristophanes (450-385 BC), active (over 40 texts produced, of which only 11 have survived) in one of the periods most troubled in the history of Athens, engaged for 27 years in the Peloponnesian War against Sparta (431-404 BC) and hit by a terrible plague.
Aristophanes, who does not want to accept the reality of his time and tries to erase it by ridiculing it, earned the public’s favor, then as now, thanks to the originality of his ideas and the immediate communicability of the language.
Some considerations on the text by the director and head of the laboratory Daniele Porisini:
“The Feast of Aphrodite” drawing inspiration, with various influences, from the comedy Lysistrata, talks about women, war and peace. At first viewing it may appear to be a “feminist” comedy, but in reality it is a female text, written by a male, which, with extremely comical moments, transmits very profound and true ideas to viewers of yesterday and today. Two jokes above all: “For money and because of money everything is ruined! Isn’t it true that our politicians yearn for public offices to stretch their claws on the nest egg and when the nest egg is exhausted they start a war?” “Who bears the burden of war more than us women, since the soldiers are the children we have given birth to!”
The show will be on stage at the Teatro dei Filodrammatici LAMazzoni, viale Stradone 7 Faenza: Friday 3, Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 May at 9pm.
