PALERMO – The president of Confagricoltura Sicilia, Rosario Marchese Ragona, “in light of the events of recent weeks which have led to the change at the top of the Regional Department of Agriculture”, writes to the President of Sicilian Region, Renato Schifaniwho took over the interim.
The president of the organization requests “a meeting to share actions and emergency strategies to counter the water crisis and the economic crisis that harass agricultural entrepreneurs”, states a note from the Sicilian farmers’ organisation.

“The problems of politics – explains Marchese Ragona – cannot slow down or slow down the work that had begun under the previous leadership of the Department”. In the letter Confagricoltura Sicilia “hopes that the new councilor will not be appointed in these months, asking the president to maintain the interim, to avoid exploitation linked to the campaign elections for the European elections and slowdowns in the approval process of the national declaration of national disaster which must be followed and encouraged”.
Elections and nomination
“We have full confidence in the government’s action and in the programming implemented so far with diligence by the managers of the Department. We cannot afford – adds the president of Confagricoltura Sicilia – the appointment of a councilor during elections, with inevitable electoral constraints. We rely on Schifani’s wisdom for management in these months, postponing the choice until after the elections, to be made with thoughtfulness and serenity, of the best figure to be able to take the lead of a department of strategic importance for our Region”.
