A North African citizen was wounded in the abdomen by a gunshot fired by the police who, shortly before, had attempted to stop him because, armed with a knife, he was threatening two of his compatriots. It happened late yesterday evening, Saturday 28 April, at Savona.
According to what was learned, the man at the height of an argument was threatening some compatriots with a knife. A police officer intervened on site, sent by the station to report a dispute at home. The officers tried in vain to stop him then shot him. The man, wounded in the abdomen but conscious, was transferred under code red toSan Paolo hospital.
The man, a 27-year-old Egyptian, underwent surgery and is now under guard in the guarded hospital because he is under arrest. He was in fact charged with attempted murder aggravated by the use of weapons.
According to what we learned, in fact, the Egyptian citizen was armed with three large kitchen knives. Two he held in his hands and the third he had on his belt. At the time of the events, according to the investigators he was so impaired that the taser, used in the first instance by the officers to try to disarm him, would not have had any effect. Only then did the officers pull out their weapon. Seeing as the man was irrepressible and threatening everyone with a massacre, the gunshot was fired which wounded him in the side.
The man was found to be illegal on the national territory and on probation, a provision issued by the Milan court for a similar event that occurred a few years ago.
